Embr Wave Launches For Public Sale

Revolutionary personal warming and cooling technology backed by new research from UC Berkeley: “Embr Wave surprised our lab’s entire team.”

CAMBRIDGE, Massachusetts—Tuesday, March 20, 2018. Following one of 2017’s most popular Kickstarters, Embr Labs has delivered thousands of pre-ordered Embr Wave wristbands up to six months ahead of schedule and now has inventory on hand for immediate online purchase.

“We’re excited to move beyond the Kickstarter stage and focus on making ‘bigger waves,’” said Sam Shames, co-founder of Embr Labs. “We have no doubt that Embr Wave is going to fundamentally change how people think about temperature and personal comfort.”

This bold vision for growth is backed by promising new research. While early demand and customer feedback has demonstrated the value of personal comfort technology, Embr Labs is also announcing the results of two landmark studies that prove the personal and environmental impacts of its wristband.

In the first study, funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation, researchers from UC Berkeley validated that the technology out of MIT makes people more comfortable in everyday scenarios through precisely engineered waves of warmth and cold. According to principal researcher Hui Zhang, Ph.D.: “Embr Wave surprised our lab’s entire research team who specialize in thermal physiology and comfort. We did not expect a device so small to have this kind of measurable impact on the user’s thermal comfort.”

In the second study out of Boston, EYP, Inc.—a global building design, research, and consulting firm—demonstrated that consistent use of Embr Wave by employees made 72% of them more comfortable in their workplace environment. According to EYP Vice President of Design & Expertise, Leila Kamal: “One of the best ways we can have a positive impact on our planet is by reducing the energy consumption of our buildings. Embr Wave potentially represents a very interesting and innovative way for employers and building owners to lower their energy costs.”

The Wave improves every week through updates available via a companion smartphone app. Since the first shipments have been delivered, customer feedback has led to multiple improvements in the duration and intensity of device settings. With these advancements, the Embr Wave continues to deliver between 25-50 sessions that warm or cool for 3-5 minutes.

People interested in lightweight warming or cooling on demand can now visit embrlabs.com for free ground shipping in the United States. Embr Wave costs $299, is available in metallic gray, and ships with a charging cable, microfiber pouch, and adjustable wristband.
